靈歌

歌曲背後的故事

初時只有旋律，沒有歌詞，彈奏時，給予跟人告別、餞行的感覺。雖然它屬於大調樂譜，某些地方卻是傷感的。這歌被我拋著腦後好幾個月。

導師Henry和太太會搬到西雅圖，以便就近子女，教會特別為他們舉行歡送會。我想起這歌的旋律，便邀請敬拜小組一個喜愛作詞的姊妹合作，創作出《祝福送到Seattle》送給他們。Henry伉儷很喜歡這歌！

香港舉行詩歌比賽，我覺得《祝福送到Seattle》當中提及我們在神家相遇、事奉.....適合參賽之用，但姊妹認為我重新填詞比較好。為此我向神祈禱，讓我有靈感寫出敬拜用的詞，結果是寫出仰慕神、敬拜神的《靈歌》。同一個旋律，有兩個截然不同情感和意思的版本！

Story behind the song

A melody emerged without lyrics for this song. When I played the tune on the piano, it evoked a feeling of saying goodbye. Despite being in a major key, some sections carried a distinct sadness. This song stayed with me for a few months.

My mentor Henry and his wife would be moving to Seattle to be closer to their children. Our church threw a farewell party for them both. I recalled the melody of this song and invited a worship team’s sister who enjoys writing songs to compose "Blessings to Seattle" as a gift for them. They loved the song!

I thought "Blessings to Seattle" which expressed how we met at church and served the Lord, was well-suited to take part in a hymn’s competition in Hong Kong. However, the sister who wrote the lyrics preferred that I rewrite the song for the contest. As such, I prayed to God, asking Him for inspiration to write a song for worship purposes, and eventually, I wrote the "Spiritual Song" which depicts adoration and worship of Him. One melody ended up with two songs that deviated in feelings and meanings!
