Story behind the song
“Worship Beyond Words – Almighty God – Supreme King”
I wrote this song solely to enter a hymn’s competition run by "Good News Communication International Ltd." The criteria for the competition revolved around the theme, "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior" (Luke 1:46-47). I didn't initially intend to participate, but a sister in Christ sent me the competition information and encouraged me to join. I thought to myself, "Okay, if I come up with a song by inspiration, then I will." After a while, this song came to me suddenly: it started with "My soul glorifies the Lord" and was finished in no time. The instrumental version is titled "Almighty God – Supreme King – Worship Beyond Words."
This song did not win any awards. What I found interesting, though, was that since this competition was held in Hong Kong, I couldn't pay the fee using normal North American methods. Our pianist's spouse happened to be there at the time; he is not a believer but was willing to help me out. I realized he must have listened to the song somehow. That experience inspired me to understand that we must constantly sow the seeds of the gospel. It doesn't matter whether our actions today bring immediate harvests or when to see the impacts. It's of utmost importance that I do my part and let the recipients decide how to respond. Since everything is in His hands, I diligently do my job, follow His commands, and do not ask for the results!
